Overview

Drives strategic leadership and operational excellence to deliver sustainable results and strengthen partnerships in-country. Represents UNOPS in Myanmar and manages all delivery and operations under the Country Office's scope.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements sustainable business strategies.
  • Creates, fosters, and role models a culture of trust, empowerment, and accountability.
  • Plans, recruits, manages, and develops a flexible and diverse workforce.
  • Develops the strategy for the Country Office, establishes priorities, and oversees portfolio implementation.
  • Leads the delivery of the UNOPS strategic plan through the CO annual plan.
  • Guides, endorses, and oversees proposals and project document agreements.
  • Monitors implementation and oversees progress toward annual objectives.
  • Plans, proposes, and allocates resources to achieve goals.
  • Manages overall HSSE performance and implements HSSE requirements.
  • Consults with the UNOPS Chief of Security and acts as the UNOPS Security Focal Point.
  • Assesses needs of national governments and partners to identify areas for leveraging UNOPS services.
  • Builds and strengthens strategic partnerships through networking and advocacy.
  • Keeps the Regional Director informed on opportunities, challenges, and risks.
  • Ensures appropriate arrangements for building excellence of business processes and quality standards.
  • Builds capability and ensures direct operational support for units within the CO.
  • Monitors and supervises the overall timely and cost-effective delivery of the Country Office portfolio.
  • Provides advice on opportunities to enhance UNOPS’ contribution to partners' results.
  • Ensures internal performance and quality management for the Country Office.
  • Represents UNOPS in inter-agency and external meetings.
  • Represents UNOPS in the UN Country Team (UNCT) and supports UNCT programming and advocacy.
  • Participates actively in UNCT meetings and contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
  • Drives high-quality, well-informed decisions for effective outcomes.
  • Ensures corporate reporting, information flow, and escalation of emerging risks.
  • Champions risk management through leadership.
  • Leads the development and introduction of innovation.
  • Ensures dissemination and sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Leads capacity building of personnel, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Establishes priorities for targeted investments in growth and innovation.
  • Contributes to the identification and implementation of innovation and continuous improvement.
Required Experience

Relevant experience is work in strategic and managerial leadership in public affairs, management, business development planning and operations in a large corporate or international organization, or related area. Experience of working in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country is desired. Experience in development or humanitarian contexts is desired.

Qualifications

Required Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with 12 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline with 10 years of relevant experience is required.
