Overview
The Communication & Media Coordinator is responsible for the strategic coordination and implementation of communication and public engagement work in Chad, aiming to strengthen IRC’s reputation and influence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and ensure the implementation of IRC Chad’s communication strategy
- Coordinate the production of communication materials (brochures, factsheets, posters, newsletters, annual reports)
- Produce and disseminate content (videos, documentaries, testimonials) highlighting IRC Chad activities
- Support project teams in producing high-quality communication content (publications, website content, social media)
- Ensure regular updates of digital platforms
- Manage social media to highlight program activities and results
- Coordinate the production of a monthly SITREP on emergency activities
- Manage media relations at the national level (press review, media coverage, journalist relations)
- Strengthen staff capacity on visibility, photography, media, and communication
- Ensure compliance of communication products with donor requirements
- Develop innovative and creative approaches to showcase IRC Chad interventions
- Maintain functional coordination with headquarters communication teams
- Participate in national advocacy meetings and events
- Identify and capitalize on relevant content, publications, and resources for the Chad context
- Serve as the focal point for media in Chad
- Develop and maintain a network with national media outlets
- Promote IRC Chad’s activities and priorities to the media
- Facilitate journalists’ field visits to project sites
- Train and coach IRC spokespersons at national level
- Ensure communication in case of crisis or emergency
- Manage a coherent and engaging digital presence for IRC Chad
Required Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role, preferably with international NGOs.
Qualifications
University degree in communication, marketing, public relations, journalism, social sciences, or a related field.
