Overview

Provide translation and interpretation support to national and international staff, government counterparts, and other stakeholders. The role includes written translation and oral interpretation during operational, training, and coordination activities, as well as interpretation during counselling sessions, meetings, and field deployments. The position also includes driving responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide oral interpretation between national and international staff, government representatives, and other stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure accurate, professional, and confidential interpretation during individual and group meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings.
  • Prepare written translations of documents from Ukrainian and/or Russian into English, and vice versa.
  • Translate training materials and provide interpretation during HMA/HDP training courses and related activities.
  • Be prepared to join HMA/HDP mobile teams and deploy to operational field locations when required.
  • Perform driving duties, including transporting the TAs and TFM.
  • Ensure effective communication is established and maintained with the OPS Room and the Area South Safety Sector.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks in accordance with the Driver's Manual and report any issues to the DRC HDP TFM and the DRC South Fleet Team.
  • Respond promptly to urgent interpretation requests in coordination with the line manager.
  • Act in the best interests of beneficiaries, ensuring respectful, culturally sensitive, and professional communication.
  • Ensure compliance with the DRC Code of Conduct and safeguarding principles.
  • Adhere to DRC Fleet, Safety, and HMA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Carry out any other duties assigned by the line manager in support of DRC's operational objectives.
Required Experience

At least 1 year working experience in a similar position or within an international organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Translation, Interpretation, or a related field.

Languages Required
Advanced proficiency (C1–C2) in English and Ukrainian.
Languages Preferred
Proficiency in Russian is an asset.
Contract Duration
3-month probation period with possibility of extension to one year
