Overview

This role supports the implementation of the Strategy for Digital Transformation of UN Peacekeeping, aiming to enhance peacekeeper safety and mandate implementation through technology.


Key Responsibilities
  • Identifies innovation opportunities and develops strategies.
  • Supports partnership establishment with internal and external actors.
  • Designs, organizes, and implements solutioning mechanisms like hackathons and accelerators.
  • Participates in programme/project development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Performs consulting assignments and facilitates workshops.
  • Researches, analyzes, and presents information.
  • Undertakes survey initiatives and designs data collection tools.
  • Prepares written outputs on innovation.
  • Provides substantive support to meetings and conferences.
  • Undertakes outreach activities and conducts training workshops.
  • Designs, develops, and disseminates innovation resources.
  • Participates in field missions.
  • Coordinates budget and funding activities.
  • Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, administration, strategic innovation, or related area is required. At least three years of experience working on digital transformation and/or innovation is required. At least 12 months of experience in managing innovation initiatives, such as hackathons, accelerators, incubators in or in support of peacekeeping operations is required. Experience in building and managing multi-stakeholder partnerships involving academia, private sector and/or government actors to co-develop digital solutions is required. A proven track record in actively participating and managing innovation initiatives, preferably within complex organizations or international settings is required. Experience in successfully integrating innovative perspectives into policies and programmes is required. Experience conducting training and facilitating learning activities related to innovation is required. Experience working on peacekeeping mandates is required.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, international relations, change management, social sciences or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
