Overview

The intern will primarily assist the Governance Branch in preparing for the 2027 meetings of the conferences of the Parties to the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation and formatting of various documents, such as meeting documents and reports;
  • Drafting of letters and other written outputs, such as presentations or training materials;
  • Assist in the organization of regional preparatory meetings, bureaux meetings, webinars, teleconferences and other briefings;
  • Support in organizing side events and other type of events;
  • Assist in developing outreach materials and web content;
  • Assist in compiling and formatting chairs notes;
  • Support training of chairs and negotiators at meetings of the conventions;
  • Provide any further support to the COP coordinators for the preparations and running of the 2027 meetings of the conferences of the Parties, as required.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Experience in a field that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for (e.g. professional experience, publication, project etc.) is an advantage.

Qualifications

be enrolled in, or have completed, a post-graduate school programme (master’s degree or equivalent, or higher). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
