Overview
Manage, coordinate, monitor, and report on the GEF Circular Cities Beyond Plastics project to ensure successful delivery of activities and support cities in transitioning to a circular economy and reducing marine plastic pollution.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the implementation and evaluation of project activities, monitor and analyze project implementation, review documents, identify problems and propose solutions.
- Draft, validate, and manage agreements with partners.
- Prepare written outputs such as background papers, analysis, and reports.
- Provide technical support to participating cities in reducing plastics through circular economy approaches.
- Develop and support the application of city-level monitoring methodology and indicators.
- Provide substantive support in organizing consultations and meetings.
- Represent the project at regional and international meetings and make presentations.
- Capture project progress, challenges, opportunities, and learnings.
- Lead coordination of activities related to budget, funding, monitoring, and reporting.
- Participate in or lead field missions and provide guidance.
- Manage information flow from the field and coordinate budget, funding, monitoring, and reporting activities.
- Undertake regular reporting on progress, challenges, opportunities, and learnings.
- Support management of procurement processes, including drafting ToRs and managing contracts.
- Organize and convene regular status update calls with project partners and the Implementing Agency.
- Work closely with other colleagues supporting the Project Management Unit.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Experience
A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in environmental or natural resources management, or related area at regional and national level is required. Demonstrated experience in project management and stakeholder coordination is required. Experience working on plastic pollution projects focusing on the circular economy is highly desirable. Experience working with governments, intergovernmental organizations, or UN agencies in the Wider Caribbean Region is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in environmental/natural resource management, conservation, management, or a related field is required. A first level degree in environmental management or related field (Bachelor’s) in combination with 2 additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
