Overview

Provide strategic and technical support to strengthen communication, advocacy, youth engagement, social mobilization, stakeholder engagement, media engagement, visibility, donor recognition and knowledge management for UNICEF Nigeria’s nutrition programme.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic and technical support to strengthen communication, advocacy, youth engagement, social mobilization, stakeholder engagement, media engagement, visibility, donor recognition and knowledge management for UNICEF Nigeria’s nutrition programme.
  • Under the supervision of the Nutrition Manager and in close collaboration with Child Nutrition and Development, SBC, Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships (CAP), Adolescent Development and Participation (ADAP), and Field Office teams.
Required Experience

A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in advocacy, communication, social mobilization, community engagement, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC), youth engagement, media relations, knowledge management, documentation, or related areas. Experience supporting large-scale public health, nutrition, maternal and child health, adolescent, or social development programmes in low- and middle-income countries. Proven collaboration with UNICEF, UN agencies, government, development partners, civil society, media, youth networks, and communities. Strong experience in communication, advocacy, social mobilization, community engagement, and programme monitoring and evaluation. Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives across government, communities, media, youth groups, and development partners. Experience in programme documentation, donor reporting, visibility, case studies, success stories, and multimedia content development. Experience in digital engagement, social media campaigns, media relations, youth platforms, and innovative communication approaches. Experience and knowledge of Nigeria humanitarian and development sector is desirable.

Qualifications

An advanced degree (Masters) in at least one of the following fields: Communication, Journalism, Social and Behaviour Change (SBC), Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Development, Public Policy, Mass Communication, or a related field.

Excellent written and spoken English required.
Languages Preferred
Working knowledge of local languages relevant to programme implementation settings is an asset. Knowledge of the UN rules, procedures and regulations and/or working experience for the UN or other international development organization would be an asset.
