Overview

This role involves conducting primary analysis of satellite imagery and evaluating AI-generated damage assessments to ensure reliability for humanitarian decision-making. The specialist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the development of new solutions.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct primary analysis of satellite imagery using visual, multispectral, and AI methods.
  • Evaluate and correct outputs of AI satellite imagery analysis pipelines.
  • Acquire and assess satellite imagery inputs and ancillary data.
  • Produce accurate data and analytical products.
  • Help develop internal capacities and workflows.
  • Support testing of new data analysis, visualization, and reporting tools.
  • Contribute to collaborations on AI and crowd-sourcing validation methods.
  • Identify and document new use cases for DISHA capabilities.
  • Support integration of DISHA's platform and outputs into initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Participate in coordination and planning meetings.
  • Represent DISHA in technical fora.
  • Contribute to concept notes, donor proposals, and project documents.
  • Support donor engagement and reporting.
Required Experience

Relevant experience in Geospatial Information Technology (GIT), satellite analysis, data management or related areas. Desired: Experience with using AI-assisted tools for satellite imagery analysis is an asset. Knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches relevant to the use of space technologies for humanitarian and development affairs is an asset. Good understanding of satellite imagery/data commercial distribution and licensing systems is an asset.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Geography, remote sensing, GIS, or other equivalent related technical field with 7 years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree (or equivalent) in any of the above or related fields with 5 years of relevant experience.
