Overview
Provide legal advice and assistance to unaccompanied migrant children regarding their legal status, rights, and procedures. Oversee services for UMC in an accommodation center and ensure project activities are implemented in accordance with relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice in individual and/or group sessions regarding the legal status of accommodated minors.
- Organize information sessions on minors' rights and legal status issues.
- Provide legal assistance during international protection, family reunification, and residence permit application processes.
- Refer minors to free legal support programs when court appearances are required.
- Support applications for residence/work permits and travel documents.
- Keep records of actions and meet deadlines for legal and administrative procedures.
- Conduct research and provide counselling on legal and contractual issues.
- Provide legal information to other staff operating within the Shelters.
- Maintain communication with competent government authorities.
- Undertake travel for legal procedures.
- Ensure documentation is updated and provide inputs to reports.
- Ensure information management protocols are followed.
Required Experience
License to practice and/or Certificate of Registration in the relevant professional association is required; At least one year of relevant professional experience, preferably in the migrant and refugees context would be an advantage; Experience in working in a multi-cultural environment preferred.
Qualifications
University degree in Law from an accredited academic institution. Master’s degree in Law, International Humanitarian Law, Human Rights or a related field would be an advantage. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Computer knowledge MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required. Certificate in a related field would be an advantage.
