Overview

The Medical Assistant provides information and support related to Health Assessment Programs, Applicant processing, and other IOM services to migrants. The role involves tasks within either the reception and data processing unit or the call centre of the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC).


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide migrants’ information regarding health assessments by phone and email.
  • Register migrants, schedule and confirm medical appointments.
  • Prepare master lists of migrants scheduled for health assessment processing.
  • Maintain daily statistics related to health assessments and update records.
  • Perform data processing activities including receiving and explaining the registration process, checking applicant’s identity, entering biodata, taking photos, and printing medical forms.
  • Receive and update records of completed medical examination forms and other documents.
  • Prepare, sort and package medical files and other documents during mobile missions.
  • Transmit completed medical forms and other medical documents to various partners.
  • File incoming/outgoing letters, reports, memoranda, emails, faxes, and IOM documents.
  • Check, print and photocopy bank deposit slips and submit them to the Administrative/Finance Assistant.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Required Experience
  • At least two years of relevant working experience with a University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Management, Statistics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field.
  • OR
  • At least four years of relevant working experience with a Secondary School Diploma.
  • Experience in computer data entry, elaboration and data analysis or in a call centre in a busy institution, preferably a medical one.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, as well as previous secretarial and archival experience, is an added advantage.
  • Previous working experience with NGOs or international organizations is an added advantage.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology/Management, Statistics, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field.
  • OR
  • Secondary School Diploma.
  • Certificate in IT/Data entry is an advantage.

Languages Required
All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).
