Overview
The Sector Programme Officer - Education and Life Skills supports the Programme Manager in planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on education and life skills activities for vulnerable children and adolescents.
Key Responsibilities
- Support needs assessments, community reviews, and context analysis.
- Prepare annual work plans, detailed implementation plans, budgets, and activity schedules.
- Coordinate day-to-day implementation of approved activities.
- Facilitate project models and approaches.
- Strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy.
- Implement life skills, socio-emotional learning, and career guidance activities.
- Integrate child protection, safeguarding, and PROTECT standards.
- Build capacity of staff, teachers, volunteers, community leaders, faith actors, and partners.
- Contextualize approved training, teaching, and learning materials.
- Ensure inclusion of Registered Children and vulnerable children in activities.
- Support child mapping, monitoring, participation risk assessments, and documentation.
- Promote safe, meaningful, and inclusive child participation.
- Ensure Sponsorship 2.0/3.0 child and community content is produced and submitted.
- Strengthen community awareness of safeguarding, child rights, and reporting mechanisms.
- Integrate values-based learning, spiritual nurture, and family strengthening.
- Mobilize faith leaders to promote education and child protection.
- Mainstream Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI).
- Address barriers to education.
- Support referrals and partnerships for vulnerable learners.
- Integrate environmental stewardship and climate resilience.
- Support schools and communities in environmental initiatives.
- Engage children and adolescents as environmental stewards.
- Support disaster risk reduction and emergency preparedness.
- Promote peacebuilding, social cohesion, and conflict-sensitive approaches.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with partners.
- Facilitate community mobilization, partner coordination, and joint planning.
- Support Citizen Voice and Action groups and social accountability actions.
- Represent World Vision in relevant forums.
- Support children, youth, and communities to engage with government.
- Collaborate with WV sector teams for integrated programming.
- Integrate relevant campaign activities.
- Support design, monitoring, and evaluation of interventions.
- Conduct regular monitoring and joint field visits.
- Collect, validate, and submit qualitative and quantitative data.
- Track outputs, learning assessments, child participation, and safeguarding actions.
- Support baseline, midterm, endline, and periodic assessments.
- Facilitate reflection, learning, and adaptive management sessions.
- Document lessons learned, good practices, and human-interest stories.
- Prepare and submit high-quality reports.
- Support feedback and accountability mechanisms.
- Identify education and life skills needs for concept notes and proposals.
- Contribute field data and technical inputs to concept notes and proposals.
- Generate impact stories and case studies.
- Support quality implementation, compliance, and reporting of grants and PNS projects.
- Build and maintain relationships with local partners and potential donors.
- Support preparation of procurement plans, activity budgets, and procurement requests.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Finance for timely procurement and payments.
- Monitor budget execution and expenditure.
- Ensure project finances, assets, and records are managed in line with requirements.
- Identify and escalate operational, safeguarding, financial, and reputational risks.
- Support implementation of audit, risk assessment, and compliance recommendations.
- Perform other tasks as required by management.
Required Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of experience implementing or coordinating education, life skills, youth development or community-based projects, preferably in rural or underserved communities. Experience in project planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring, reporting and partner coordination. Practical experience supporting literacy, numeracy, adolescent/youth platforms, teacher coaching, community mobilisation or NGO programming.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Community Development or a related field. Training in education planning, pedagogy, foundational literacy and numeracy, life skills, safeguarding, GEDSI or project management is an advantage.
