Overview

Provides transportation, messenger, and general support services for the Regional Office, ensuring the smooth running of daily requirements and official needs of the staff.


Key Responsibilities
  • Drive office vehicle for the Regional Director, staff members, guests and visitors.
  • Meet and/or send off officials and guests to and from the airport.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and in serviceable condition.
  • Maintain daily logs of vehicle usage.
  • Keep records of periodic maintenance.
  • Report accidents and follow prescribed procedures.
  • Follow strictly traffic rules and UNDSS regulations.
  • Report malfunctioning of office equipment or premises issues.
  • Coordinate with service providers for maintenance.
  • Deliver and collect mail and documents.
  • Provide administrative support for visas processing and government formalities.
  • Perform office errands, bank operations and other messenger services.
  • Register correspondence for postal service and maintain records.
  • Deliver mail to the post office.
  • Assist in checking office equipment inventory.
  • Assist in checking inventory of office assets, furniture and equipment.
  • Assist in preparing lists of obsolete office furniture and equipment.
  • Dispatch messages and correspondence.
  • Control telephone operator's desk as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • Four to five years of experience as a driver.
  • Good knowledge of local transportation system and of local driving rules, regulations, etc.
  • Some knowledge of administrative rules and regulations in different governmental entities, embassies, consular sections, banks, etc.
  • Skills in minor vehicle repair.
  • Knowledge on how to operate photocopying machines.
  • Experience working in UN or International organization in similar function is desirable.
  • Experience with UN practices and procedures related to safety and security practices and defensive driving is beneficial.
  • Experience in administrative, general service and messenger services is an advantage.
Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary education.
  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required.

Languages Required
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and follow instructions in Arabic.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of spoken English desirable.
