Overview
The intern will provide coordination support across five priority workstreams within the Office of the Deputy Executive Director (DEDO) at UN Women.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the review and finalization of the Young Women and Girls Strategy, including compiling comments and drafting a communications plan.
- Maintain a consolidated tracker of partner engagement related to the Strategy.
- Support internal coordination of UN Women's Middle East response, including follow-up with sub working groups.
- Maintain a coordination tracker of action points, decisions, and pending items for the Middle East response.
- Assist in compiling situation updates and briefing notes for the Deputy Executive Director's Office.
- Support follow-up to IANWGE Strategic Leadership Group meetings, including tracking commitments and correspondence.
- Assist with the finalization and circulation of Terms of Reference and related documentation for the IANWGE Strategic Leadership Group.
- Support preparation for subsequent IANWGE Strategic Leadership Group engagements.
- Maintain a coordination tracker between the Deputy Executive Director's Office and UN Women's Liaison Office to the African Union.
- Track key African Union processes, summits, and decision points relevant to UN Women's Africa strategy.
- Prepare a final handover note summarizing outstanding actions and status across all workstreams.
Required Experience
- Ability to work with discretion on sensitive and time bound diplomatic and inter agency correspondence.
- Sound understanding of, or strong interest in, multilateral processes and UN intergovernmental mechanisms (CSW, CSD, ECOSOC).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams under tight timelines.
Qualifications
- University studies in international relations, political science, gender studies, public policy, or other relevant subjects is required.
- Meet one of the following: Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a two year period of graduation; or Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program which is part of a degree programme and undertake the internship as part of the program requirements.
