Staff Counsellor (National Officer NOA), Port au Prince, Haiti
Overview
Provide counsel and guidance to WFP Haiti staff, particularly field-based staff, who are faced with traumatic and stressful situations due to the socio-economic context.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide counselling support services to WFP staff and dependents, including case management and referrals.
- Provide counselling services to individuals and/or groups during emergencies and after critical incidents.
- Plan regular field visits and provide visit reports.
- Provide induction courses to newly recruited staff.
- Plan and facilitate support sessions for the Hotline team.
- Develop and provide training and programs on team building, resilience, harassment, and cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Identify and liaise with local mental health resources for referrals.
- Prepare monthly reports on activities conducted, including statistical data.
- Maintain the highest ethical standards related to psychological services.
Required Experience
A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible professional experience relevant to the field is required. Experience either working in a hardship location or providing counselling services to staff working in very difficult and insecure environments is an asset.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in clinical or counselling psychology, Sociology, or University degree with at least 5 years more relevant work experience. The candidate should hold active licensure/registration as a mental health professional with a recognized governing association and be a member of that organization in good standing. Additional training or certification in a broad range of related fields, such as alcohol/substance abuse, resilience, cross-cultural communication, conflict resolution, mediation, trauma etc. will be an advantage.
