Director, Inspectorate (D-2)
Overview
Provides strategic leadership and executive direction for the implementation of worldwide on-site verification activities under the Chemical Weapons Convention.
Key Responsibilities
- Executive Management of the Inspectorate Division, including strategic workforce planning, training programmes, and resource stewardship.
- Strategic Direction and Verification Delivery, setting strategy, policies, and priorities for on-site verification.
- Operational Readiness, Safety and Contingency Response, maintaining organisational readiness for various inspections and investigations.
- Partnerships, Coordination and Representation, building strategic partnerships and engaging with stakeholders.
- Innovation, Knowledge and Future Verification Capability, leading the development of verification methods and integrating new technologies.
Required Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in the Chemical Industry or related relevant field such as Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN), a substantial part of which should be at the senior level in the private or public sector or in international organisations; Demonstrated experience directing complex technical or operational programmes and projects, preferably involving chemicals, verification, inspection, safety, security or emergency preparedness; Proven track record of strategic leadership, representation, people management, organisational development and change management. Experience in policy formulation, analysis, programme monitoring and evaluation, good communication and negotiation skills as well as significant experience in managing human and financial resources; Knowledge or experience working with the CWC and member states. Desirable: Work experience in the UN Common System or with the national government on inspections is also desirable.
Qualifications
Essential: Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in Science, Engineering, International Security or Relations or a related field; A first-level university degree in combination with additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
