Overview

The European Commission is seeking an Administrative Agent for Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN) in Brussels. The role involves supporting the Head of Unit and other unit members in administrative tasks, communication projects, and inter-institutional relations.


Key Responsibilities
  • providing support to the Head of Unit in the management of the unit
  • assisting the Head of Unit with personnel administration (e.g., HR issues, training requests, annual leave and time management, job descriptions and recruitment)
  • coordinating reporting exercises
  • managing the documents and correspondence addressed to the unit, including reception, registration, assignments within unit, and follow-up, filing and archiving of documents, and management of unit shared drives, as well as access-to-document requests
  • providing support to the organisation of communication activities, in particular events and internal communication activities such as the very popular Midday Info sessions
  • managing missions and organising external and internal meetings
  • handling and coordinating replies to citizens’ questions and complaints.
Required Experience

appropriate professional experience of at least three years (if secondary education diploma is held)

Qualifications

a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education

Other Details
Languages Required
a thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the EU AND a satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU, to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties. A very good command of spoken and written English is essential.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of French or other languages would be an asset.
Contract Duration
up to 4 years (initial contract), potentially extended once for a maximum of 2 years

Remuneration
The pay of staff members consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances. The recruitment grade will be calculated based on the qualifications and the number of years of professional experience.
