Overview

This role involves administrative support for the recruitment of Auxiliary Conference Interpreters (ACIs) within the Directorate-General for Interpretation (DG SCIC) of the European Commission.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assess needs to satisfy demand and undertake ACI recruitment cost-effectively
  • Manage ACI contracts
  • Act as leave manager for staff interpreters
  • Help monitor resources and their availability
  • Maintain contacts with stakeholders, including meeting organisers, interpreters, and colleagues in other SCIC services
  • Use SCIC internal databases (Pearl, Indisponibilité, Engagements, Signalétique) and corporate tools (Sysper, ARES)
Required Experience
  • Experience with provision of interpretation services in the context of the EU Institutions, and in particular in the recruitment of freelance interpreters, is an asset.
  • A level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.

Languages Required
• Have a thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the EU • AND a satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU, to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties.
Languages Preferred
Our Unit works in English and French.
Contract Duration
The duration of the 1st contract will be of 1 to 4 years. The contract might then be extended only once for a maximum of 2 years.
Work Modality
The place of employment will be Brussels.
Remuneration
The pay of staff members consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances.
