Overview
The Programme Management Officer will develop, implement, and evaluate assigned programmes/projects, monitor their development and implementation, and coordinate policy development. The role involves building relationships with national counterparts and other UN entities, and organizing outreach activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops, implements and evaluates assigned programmes/projects, monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation, reviews relevant documents and reports, identifies problems and issues, and initiates corrective actions.
- Builds and maintains relationships with national counterparts and other UN funds, programmes and agencies.
- Performs consulting assignments by planning and facilitating workshops and interactive sessions, and assisting in developing action plans.
- Assists partners to develop and implement training programmes and build capacity in counterterrorism, international law, democracy and rule of law.
- Generates survey initiatives, designs data collection tools, reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, and prepares conclusions.
- Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
- Coordinates policy development, including the implementation of international policy frameworks and reviews and analyses issues and trends.
- Organizes and prepares written outputs such as draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, and power point presentations.
- Leads on the organization of and substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc.
- Initiates and coordinates outreach activities, organizes and conducts workshops, seminars, etc., and makes presentations.
- Supports the Director and participates in large, complex field missions, including provision of guidance and drafting mission summaries.
- Coordinates activities related to budget funding and prepares related documents/reports.
Required Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management or related area is required. Experience providing assistance to a senior manager and working in the Front Office is required. Experience in supporting or managing counter-terrorism and prevention of violent extremism programmes is required. Experience in drafting analytical papers on sensitive management and high-profile matters is desirable.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree (Master’s or Doctorate degree, or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or related fields is required. A first-level degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the specified fields of study with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
