Overview
The Finance Analyst plays an important role in disbursement-related activities during project implementation, working in close collaboration with senior finance assistants and finance officers to support task teams, operations staff, and external borrowers.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the country focal point for assigned countries in disbursement-related aspects.
- Perform transaction processing including release of disbursements.
- Liaise with clients to resolve potential issues or exceptions in transaction processing.
- Manage project preparation for low-risk Trust Funds and review restructuring packages.
- Monitor inactive Project Designated Accounts and engage in portfolio management activities.
- Ensure Designated Account balances are promptly documented or refunded for orderly loan closure.
- Evaluate transaction reviews and portfolio management work to identify borrower capacity constraints and provide capacity-building.
- Train end-users on accessing and interpreting online systems, tools, and data.
- Support the design and development of system enhancements, upgrades, and new systems.
- Perform testing related to enhancement tasks and upgrades.
- Prepare disbursement and analytical reports, including maintaining interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI and other tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and automate reporting processes.
- Perform user acceptance testing for ongoing loan system modernization projects.
- Serve as the bridge between business teams and the technical data engineering team.
Required Experience
- Minimum of five years of relevant work experience.
- Experience with a financial institution or an accounting firm is a plus.
- Experience working with financial systems, AI, and/or blockchain technology is a plus.
- Big Four or equivalent public accounting experience would be advantageous.
- Knowledge and experience of international development operations is a plus.
Qualifications
- Professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification) preferred.
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant discipline is required.
- A master's degree in a relevant discipline (such as Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting) is a plus.
- Certification in systems audit (e.g., CISA) is considered a plus.
