Overview
Support the implementation of the Regional Office Media and Communication Strategy and activities, and contribute to raising awareness of IOM’s work among key partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of the Regional Office Media and Communication Strategy and activities.
- Contribute to the implementation of an Outreach and Communications Strategy.
- Gather, draft and disseminate public information on IOM activities.
- Prepare public information materials for press briefing notes, newsletters, website and social media.
- Coordinate with Regional Office and Country Offices’ staff on media, public information, event management and visibility issues.
- Provide logistical and technical support for IOM global campaigns and UN-led campaigns.
- Draft and exhibit content to showcase IOM activities at external events.
- Collaborate with Country Offices’ staff to produce content for an international audience.
- Support the development and dissemination of awareness raising, communicating with communities and media resources for crisis-affected communities.
- Contribute to the timely and efficient publication and distribution of media content.
- Provide various content on IOM activities and events for IOM’s social media presence.
- Contribute to the development of new communications initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and strengthening of links with international and local media.
- Participate in interagency media and communication working groups.
- Provide staff training sessions on communications best practices.
- Monitor media and highlight trending humanitarian-related topics.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Experience
- High School Degree/Certificate with seven years of relevant professional experience; or, University degree with five years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in a public information or similar role at a UN or similar agency.
- Experience in working for a news media organization.
Qualifications
- High School Degree/Certificate
- University degree in Media and Communications, Public Information, Journalism, or a related field from an accredited academic institution.
