Lab Assistant

Overview

Support daily laboratory operations in accordance with IOM Migration Health Assessment Programme technical instructions, laboratory SOPs, and quality management standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory procedures for pre-examination, examination, and post-examination activities.
• Contribute to the implementation of laboratory quality management systems.
• Ensure standards and quality of laboratory procedures by following SOPs.
• Adhere to biosafety measures.
• Organize and operate activities on assigned station for accurate, efficient and timely delivery of results.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Facilitate laboratory equipment maintenance.
• Facilitate laboratory stock management.
• Alert the laboratory supervisor to any problems related to operations.
• Facilitate maintenance of organized record keeping and information management.
• Develop and/or update SOPs.
• Participate in the improvement of the service system.
• Manage and meet client expectations.

Required Experience

Three years for Bachelor’s degree holder and five years for diploma holders of relevant clinical laboratory experience in a busy institution, preferably in a laboratory.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or diploma.
