Project Manager – ACALS Project

Overview

Manage, coordinate, and provide technical oversight for the Adaptation for Climate and Livelihood Systems (ACALS) project in Beledweyne, Somalia. The role focuses on improving food security and optimizing agricultural output through various interventions.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure timely, high-quality, and compliant implementation of project activities.
• Lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of climate-resilient agriculture, water infrastructure utilization, post-harvest management, and livelihoods.
• Provide technical oversight on equipment operation and maintenance, fodder conservation, and market systems development.
• Oversee training in regenerative practices and Farmer Field Schools.
• Facilitate the "Graduation Model" and oversee market-linkage activities.
• Coordinate with UNOPS, relevant authorities, and partners.
• Oversee project budget, procurement, and compliance.
• Lead, supervise, and motivate project staff.
• Provide managerial support to the Economic Recovery team.

Required Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in managing donor-funded humanitarian or development projects.
• At least 3 years of experience in food security, livelihoods, or resilience programming.
• Demonstrated experience in climate-resilient agriculture, irrigation, or market systems development.
• Proven experience in project cycle management (PCM).
• Proven experience in Market Systems Development (MSD) and establishing Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).
• Experience in team management and capacity building.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor in Rural Development, International Development, Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Business Administration, or other relevant fields.
• Further short trainings in project management, livelihoods and other technical areas is highly desirable.
