Overview
The Social Policy Officer (Social Protection Systems Strengthening) plays a pivotal role in advancing inclusive, shock-responsive, and sustainable social protection systems in Nepal. The position leads UNICEF's efforts to strengthen social protection policies, programmes, and delivery systems that reduce poverty and vulnerability, improve resilience, and promote equitable outcomes for children and their families.

Required Experience
- A minimum of two years of professional work experience in strategic and operational aspects of social protection systems is required.
- Experience in humanitarian cash transfer programme design and management and policy advocacy, including beneficiary data management is required.
- Experience in programme design and management and policy advocacy is required.
Qualifications
Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in one of the following fields is required: Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Science, or another relevant field.

Languages Required
Fluency in English and Nepali are required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another UN official language (Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) is an asset.
Strong knowledge of and familiarity with Nepal’s social protection legal, institutional and policy framework, including public budgeting at national, state or municipal levels, is considered a strong asset.
Demonstrated experience working with the public sector at subnational level, particularly in areas related to social protection, finance, planning or budgeting, is considered a strong asset.
Knowledge and/or experience in mainstreaming programmes for delivering cash assistance in emergencies into broader social protection systems is considered a strong asset.
Experience working in developing countries or contexts, particularly in emergencies and humanitarian settings, is considered a strong asset.
Working experience within the United Nations is desirable.
