Overview
The Finance Assistant supports the Finance Manager in managing day-to-day finance department operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process financial transactions.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial documents.
- Assist with payments to suppliers, contractors, and program staff.
- Prepare cash disbursement vouchers for cash transactions.
- Ensure transactions comply with accounting policies, donor restrictions, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
- Assist in collecting weekly financial needs for the office.
- Submit payments for bank processing.
- Review budgets to understand guidelines and instructions.
- Assist in project and country budget preparation and revision.
- Review funding allocations for program guidance and coding.
- Support the Finance Manager in checking URCS financial reports and vouchers.
- Produce monthly and quarterly reports for supervisor review.
Required Experience
Experience in financial management and accounting. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience and proven competence in writing narrative and financial reports. Excellent practical computer skills (including strong competence in Windows, word processing, spreadsheets, internet/email, accounting software). Experience in problem identification and solution.
Qualifications
Diploma in Accounts or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from recognized College/Institutions.
