Logistics Assistant (Cross-Border Ops)

Overview

Coordinate cross-border operations for WFP consignments, ensuring timely and efficient import and export processes. This role involves supervising cargo inspections, providing guidance on customs requirements, and maintaining accurate records of convoy movements.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate with clearing agents and governmental entities for timely cross-border operations.
• Supervise cargo inspection and follow up on required releases.
• Provide guidance to clearing agents and transporters on customs requirements.
• Maintain detailed records for each convoy and submit daily status reports.
• Provide daily operational reports and submit weekly operations reports.
• Liaise with relevant parties for smooth clearance and movement of WFP cargo.
• Compile preliminary shipment information and establish records for expected arrivals.
• Inform supervisors of any bottlenecks related to operational or customs clearing procedures.
• Ensure copies of final cargo releases are received and filed.
• Adhere to WFP ethics and operational standards.

Required Experience

At least two years of relevant experience in supply chain management, warehousing and/or logistics within a humanitarian organization or private sector companies dealing with humanitarian projects. Experience in managing warehouses and large teams.

Qualifications

University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or related field.
