Overview
The ICRC Interpreter facilitates communication between delegates, affected populations, authorities, and other stakeholders through oral interpretation and written translation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oral interpretation from Fula/Fulani/Peul to French and vice versa during confidential interviews, institutional dissemination, dialogue with authorities, and family link activities.
- Written translation of Fula/Fulani/Peul language into written French.
- Analysis and reporting on conditions of detention, security, and other matters related to the ICRC's mandate.
- Support on other protection activities as needed.
Required Experience
2 years of professional experience. Previous interpreter or translator experience is an advantage.
Qualifications
University education/degree in interpretation or translation is an advantage.
Other Details
Languages Required
Excellent command of French (C1) required. Excellent command of Fula/Fulani/Peul (C1) required.
Languages Preferred
Proficiency in other ICRC operational languages (English, French, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Portuguese) is a strong asset. Proficiency in Hausa is a strong asset.
