Overview

The European Commission is seeking a Secretary for the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) in Brussels. The role involves supporting policy officers and managing administrative tasks within the unit.


Key Responsibilities
  • Run the management of incoming/outgoing mails/documents for the Head of Unit.
  • Allocate assignments for the unit and for the allocation of briefings.
  • Monitor the respect of deadlines and ensure that all external requests are followed up.
  • Handle interservice consultations and launch legislative procedures when needed.
  • Assist with the organisation of the secretariat.
  • Plan and organise missions for the unit and monitor the use and consumption of respective budget lines.
  • Prepare meetings with visitors and handle groups and high-level visitors.
Required Experience

Prior experience of at least 3 years in the Commission, working as a secretary or administrative assistant, is mandatory. Previous experience of work in highly sensitive policy areas is desirable.

Qualifications

At least a level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least 3 years attested by a diploma. Only qualifications issued or recognised as equivalent by EU Member State authorities will be accepted.

A good command of English (written and oral) is essential. Must have at least a C1 level of one of the 24 official languages of the EU AND a satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU.

Contract Duration
The duration of the 1st contract will be up to 4 years. The contract might then be extended only once for a maximum of 2 years.

Remuneration
The recruitment grade will be calculated based on the qualifications and the number of years of professional experience. The pay of staff members consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances.
