Overview
Supports the implementation of nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific activities in coordination with other departments, primarily Health. Conducts assessments, monitoring, and field visits to sites where EcoSec is implementing activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Contributes to situation analysis.
- Collects information on emergency needs related to food and nutrition security.
- Provides data and analysis for the development of the EcoSec IL-OT nutrition strategy.
- Gathers information for stakeholder analysis.
- Reports on problems with accuracy and without delay.
- Ensures beneficiary needs, preferences, and vulnerabilities are reflected in planning.
- Contributes to the implementation of EcoSec Relief Program Common Kitchens and Common Ovens.
- Takes responsibility for implementing nutrition-sensitive activities at Common Kitchen and Cash for Nutrition.
- Sets-up a plan of action for nutrition interventions.
- Proposes adjustments or corrective steps in Food Consumption projects.
- Conducts regular assessments of kitchen facilities, food quality, hygiene, and safety practices.
- Reviews and optimizes menu cycles.
- Assists with administrative procedures related to nutrition programs.
- Supports Primary Health Centers (PHCs) implementing the CMAM program.
- Prepares nutrition-related interventions for relevant authorities.
- Creates synergies and collaboration with other actors for nutrition-sensitive interventions.
- Provides guidance to PHCs on screening, admission, monitoring, and discharge criteria.
- Supports PHC healthcare staff on standardized case management protocols, anthropometric measurement, and reporting tools.
- Conducts regular visits to PHCs to review patient data and outcomes.
- Monitors and informs on the performance of the cash for nutrition program.
- Supports hospital team in the case management of malnutrition.
- Provides input on logistics decisions related to specialized food commodities.
- Conducts coaching or small-scale training on clinical nutrition practices.
- Participates in implementing and monitoring various components of the EcoSec program.
- Plans and organizes field visits.
- Interviews community members and beneficiaries.
- Assists in identifying operational strategies and defining the plan of action.
- Updates situational analysis relating to other humanitarian actors in the nutrition sector.
- Coordinates with other aid agencies on an ad-hoc basis.
- Conducts regular field visits to PHCs, Rafa Hospital and Common Kitchen.
- Contributes to data analysis and reporting.
- Attends to beneficiary feedback related to ICRC nutrition response.
- May be required to execute other tasks depending on operational reality.
- Helps to report on activities.
- Contributes to the EcoSec weekly update on nutrition related issues.
- Prepares internal messages to other departments.
- Keeps account of expenditure for the nutrition-sensitive program.
- Produces nutrition response related guidance, FAQs and supports the CCC in providing clear information.
Required Experience
- 2-3 years of work experience in the fields of food security and nutrition is mandatory.
- More than 3 years of professional experience in nutrition programming.
- At least 1 year in implementation of nutrition in humanitarian or private sector setting.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Food Science and Dietetics or other related field.
