Overview

The Economic Affairs Officer will be responsible for developing socio-economic databases, interpreting econometric models, and drafting analytical studies on economic development. The role supports the Director in implementing the Office’s mandate and managing the work programme.


Key Responsibilities
  • - Develops socio-economic databases and qualitative information.
  • - Interprets and applies econometric models.
  • - Drafts inputs for technical papers and analytical studies.
  • - Attends international, regional, and national meetings.
  • - Assists in the organization and servicing of expert group meetings.
  • - Prepares speeches and inputs for presentations.
  • - Provides substantive and practical support to the Director.
  • - Manages the work programme of the Office.
  • - Supervises the work of general services staff.
  • - Collaborates with Chiefs of Section on extra-budgetary resources.
  • - Supports internal coordination, monitoring, and planning.
  • - Facilitates the flow of information between Branches.
  • - Coordinates incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • - Performs other related duties and administrative tasks.
  • - Undertakes on-the-job and other training activities.
  • - Assists in formulating, implementing, and reporting on the Office’s work plan.
  • - Assists with media liaison and website improvements.
  • - Serves as a focal point on operational and coordination issues.
  • - Supports the organization and management of the Director’s meetings and missions.
  • - Selects, analyzes, classifies, and stores records.
  • - Supports the Director in convening meetings.
Required Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes or related area is required. Experience managing regular and extrabudgetary resources is required. Experience managing, editing and drafting background notes and talking points on financing for development issues for senior officials is required. Experience supporting senior officials is required. Experience in organizing and coordinating high-level intergovernmental meetings, conferences and events on financing for development at the international level is required.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in economics or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
