Overview

The Director provides strategic guidance for and ensures the transparent, efficient and cost-effective operations of the Division of General Services, which includes facilities, technical, engineering and property management, archives, records and mail management, and various support services.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Division of General Services, providing direction and guidance to staff, and promoting the development of knowledge and relevant skills within the team.
  • Ensure the timely provision of efficient, effective, economical, innovative and customer-focused technical and support services and operations.
  • Provide guidance on all aspects of infrastructure planning, development, operational support and maintenance, ensuring the proper integrated management of the Seibersdorf site.
  • Provide advice to senior management on all issues related to facilities management, infrastructure, buildings, technical, engineering and property management; archives, records and mail management; transport, shipping, travel, visa, customs and privileges and housing services; the commissary (duty free shop); insurance and management of Agency's share of the operating costs for the common services at the VIC and Seibersdorf.
  • Serve and/or represent the IAEA in various VIC and UN inter-agency general services bodies such as the Infrastructure Committee (IC), Committee on Common Services (CCS), Major Repair and Refurbishment Fund (MRRF), Commissary Advisory Committee (CAC) and advise senior management on financial and facilities management implications.
  • Representing the IAEA in negotiations on matters related to general services with the Austrian Government and municipal authorities and other international organizations.
  • As the Agency Insurance Officer, manage the provision and administration of insurance coverage for IAEA personnel, premises, property, assets and equipment.
Required Experience
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant professional experience, including five years of senior level experience in an international or national public or private sector organization of comparable complexity.
  • Proven experience in management of complex and diverse Facilities, including experience in construction management, strategic project and budget planning, negotiation and problem resolution.
  • Experience in managing scientific laboratories or similar technical operations would be desirable.
  • Proven track record of excellent leadership and experience in managing staff and financial resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and to motivate large work teams in diverse workforce and a multicultural environment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying management principles and practices, change management and promoting open communication and collaboration, self-development, innovation and high performance.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree in civil and structural engineering, building construction management, facilities management, public and business management, or other relevant discipline.
  • First level university degree in civil and structural engineering, building construction management, facilities management, public and business management, or other relevant discipline plus two additional years of relevant experience may be considered.

Languages Preferred
Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration
Tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $117953 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 66408*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; Other benefits include 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance.
