Overview

Support the implementation of community outreach, public awareness, and stakeholder engagement activities related to marine debris and waste management. Ensure effective coordination and oversight of field implementation, monitoring, documentation, and reporting.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support community outreach, public awareness, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Disseminate information and campaign materials.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local governments, CSOs/CBOs, and local stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with CSOs implementing Performance-Based Payment (PBP) mechanisms.
  • Facilitate community consultations, awareness events, and coordination meetings.
  • Promote inclusive, gender-responsive, and culturally appropriate approaches.
  • Liaise with local stakeholders to monitor progress and identify challenges.
  • Provide daily field coordination support.
  • Participate in field missions, site visits, and coordination meetings.
  • Arrange logistics for workshops, consultations, and engagement activities.
  • Coordinate PBP implementation, including documentation tracking.
  • Collect and compile field-level data.
  • Document lessons learned, good practices, and operational challenges.
  • Provide inputs to progress reports and briefing notes.
  • Organize records of stakeholder engagement and field interventions.
  • Facilitate information exchange among stakeholders.
  • Implement capacity-building initiatives.
  • Contribute to knowledge products and field stories.
  • Ensure adherence to UNDP principles on ethics, inclusion, and gender equality.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 5 years (with secondary education) or 2 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in community engagement, stakeholder coordination, field implementation, or other relevant project support areas.
  • Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.), database packages, and web-based management systems such as ERP.
  • Experience in capacity building, advocacy, and knowledge management within environmental, marine debris, or waste management programmes.
  • Solid experience working with a multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
  • Demonstrated experience in environmental or waste management project implementation, including coordination with national and sub-national government institutions, line ministries, community-based organizations (CBOs), and other key stakeholders.
  • Experience in community-based behaviour change programmes related to marine debris or waste management is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience working with UNDP or other UN agencies and/or international organizations and/or major donor agencies is an advantage.
Qualifications
  • Secondary education is required.
  • A university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Biology, Communication, or other related fields, or other related field would be desirable.
