Overview

The Education Officer will play a key role in advancing UNICEF’s vision for quality, equitable, and inclusive education in the Dominican Republic. The role provides technical, operational, and programmatic support to strengthen planning, foster partnerships, and ensure programme results.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support programme planning and design by researching and analyzing education trends, preparing technical inputs, contributing to results-based planning, and ensuring accuracy and quality in programme documentation.
  • Monitor programme implementation and results, collaborating closely with colleagues and partners to track progress, identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and ensure timely follow‑up on actions and recommendations.
  • Contribute to budget and resource management by monitoring fund utilization, verifying compliance with UNICEF guidelines, and preparing inputs for donor and programme reporting.
  • Provide technical and operational support to partners, including government counterparts, NGOs, and UN agencies, helping them interpret and apply UNICEF policies, strategies, and best practices for effective programme delivery.
  • Strengthen partnerships and communication, supporting the preparation of advocacy materials, participating in inter‑agency coordination spaces, and contributing to resource‑mobilization efforts.
  • Promote innovation and knowledge management by documenting lessons learned, supporting capacity‑building activities, and helping identify and apply innovative approaches that drive better results for children.
  • Participate in field monitoring, gathering firsthand insights, strengthening accountability, and ensuring programme activities respond to the needs of the most vulnerable children.
Required Experience

A minimum of one year of professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required. Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.

Qualifications

University degree in education, psychology, sociology, or other related field.
