Overview

The Operations Support and Logistics (OSL) Officer role focuses on ensuring effective WHO country presence by managing logistics and supply operations. The primary purpose is to support health development agendas and emergency programmes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accuracy of warehouse transaction records and identify discrepancies.
  • Organize and conduct regular physical stock counts and data storage system reconciliation.
  • Ensure proper implementation and use of stock administration tools.
  • Monitor stock levels, consumption figures, expiry dates, and potential surpluses or depletion.
  • Advise and inform the line manager on stock thresholds and items nearing expiry.
  • Prepare procedures and steps for commodity disposal.
  • Monitor storage area temperatures and ensure cold chain integrity.
  • Ensure items are well organized, stored, protected, identified, and accessible.
  • Manage and control sensitive items including batch numbers, expiry dates, and special packaging.
  • Ensure quality and quantity of received goods and report any issues.
  • Track and update warehouse stock cards with all necessary information.
  • Set up and maintain an appropriate filing system for relevant documents.
  • Coordinate the receipt/dispatch of items and ensure accurate recording and reporting.
  • Monitor loading plans and ensure completion of WHO Waybills & Packing lists.
  • Deliver goods according to FEFO and/or FIFO principles.
  • Ensure appropriate packing, weighing, and labeling of freight.
  • Inform the line manager of the weight/volume of articles ready for distribution.
Required Experience
  • At least two years of relevant experience in managing emergency procurement and logistics operations and supply operations.
  • Part of the experience must be in the field supporting emergency humanitarian operations.
  • Related experience with WHO, the UN system, health cluster partners, recognized humanitarian organizations or international non-governmental organization work in the field of outbreaks and/or health emergency response is desirable.
  • Experience in working in conflict area and areas with security issues is desirable.
  • Experience in import/export procedures and customs related administration is desirable.
  • International exposure in the field of emergency response is a strong asset.
Qualifications
  • Essential: University degree in logistics, supply chain, procurement, business administration, commerce, transport or similar area of study.
  • Desirable: An advanced level university degree or professional qualification in logistics, supply chain management, field operations or a related discipline from an accredited/ recognized institute.

Remuneration
Annual base salary starting at USD 56,046 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1985 per month. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
