Overview

The Information Management Officer will support data collection, processing, and analysis within the UNICEF Colombia Country Office, contributing to the roll-out of a new monitoring system and the integration of data from multiple sources for reporting and accountability.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design, development, and management of databases, spreadsheets, systems and other data tools.
  • Compile qualitative and quantitative information and coordinate activities between all sector stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the design, enhancement and integration of information management systems and monitoring tools.
  • Support the development, testing, enhancement and maintenance of modules and new functionalities within UNICEF Information Management and field monitoring systems.
  • Support the development, roll-out and maintenance of data collection and reporting tools.
  • Ensure timely and standardized data collection from UNICEF Sections, Field Offices and implementing partners.
  • Apply data validation and quality assurance mechanisms.
  • Maintain and update centralized reporting databases.
  • Support the generation of analytical outputs and structured reports.
  • Contribute to the roll-out and quality assurance of real-time field monitoring systems.
  • Provide technical support to UNICEF staff and implementing partners on progress reporting, results tracking, intervention mapping and use of information management tools.
  • Support Field Offices and partners in the collection, processing and management of data.
  • Contribute to the development of guidelines, SOPs, documentation and user manuals related to data collection, reporting and information management systems, and deliver training sessions.
  • Conduct field missions to provide hands-on technical support for IM systems, reporting tools and data quality processes.
Required Experience
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience with management information systems and/or planning and monitoring in large organizations or at country level.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, data analysis as well as preparing reports and presentations using GIS and other visualization tools.
  • Field work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies is considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience in program/project planning and monitoring in a UN system agency or organization is an asset.
  • Experience of working with data and statistics, e.g households and panel surveys, large datasets is considered as an asset.
  • Experience in applying methodology of Monitoring & Evaluation theories, standards and models, quantitative/qualitative/mixed methods, validity/reliability testing of data, data analysis and interpretation, and statistical inference methods is considered an asset.
Qualifications

A University degree in a relevant field or discipline such as Geospatial Sciences or GIS, Information Management, Information Technology, Information Systems, Statistics, Computer science, Engineering or other close areas.

Fluency in Spanish and English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, or Russian) is considered as an asset.
