Overview

The Logistics Technical Assistant supports day-to-day logistics functions in Tripoli, Libya, focusing on procurement, fleet coordination, asset tracking, and documentation to ensure timely and efficient delivery of aid.


Key Responsibilities
  • Planning, monitoring, and coordination of vehicle movements and transport requirements.
  • Track vehicle maintenance, servicing schedules, and equipment readiness.
  • Maintain accurate fleet records, including logbooks, fuel consumption, and maintenance history.
  • Monitor fleet performance, including utilization, costs, and compliance with safety protocols.
  • Provide guidance to drivers on fleet procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Maintain organized fleet and driver records in the filing system.
  • Maintain and update the asset register, ensuring accurate tagging, recording, and tracking.
  • Conduct periodic verification of assets and report discrepancies, losses, or damages.
  • Support asset disposal, transfer, or donation following organizational and donor guidelines.
  • Provide advice and support to staff on proper use and care of assigned assets.
  • Assist in local procurement processes, including documentation, follow-ups with suppliers, and support for evaluation committees.
  • Support procurement activities at Area and CO levels as required.
  • Maintain and update the supplier database.
  • Maintain logistics files (fleet, assets, procurement) in an organized and audit-ready manner.
  • Update logistics systems and databases to keep data accurate and current.
  • Prepare periodic reports on fleet usage, asset inventories, and procurement support for management.
  • Report any misuse, loss, or damage of fleet or assets.
  • Attend relevant SIP Basic Package training opportunities.
  • Promote, encourage the implementation of SIP CO action plan.
  • Any other tasks as delegated by the line manager.
Required Experience
  • 1–3 years of experience working in logistics, preferably in a humanitarian context.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile operational environments.
  • Demonstrated results relevant to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Experience in conducting competitive, transparent, and accountable procurement.
  • Strong document management skills.
  • Experience managing stock, fleet, and assets.
  • Good IT skills, particularly in email, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
