Overview
Regional Consultant to support MED POL in the effective implementation of the Marine Litter MED PLUS Project and related marine litter activities under the PoW and Budget 2026–2027.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare a detailed work plan for the assignment.
- Follow-up and support project activities, oversee legal agreements, and review deliverables and reports.
- Review consultant deliverables and ensure quality.
- Collect, review, and analyse data from marine litter pilots.
- Provide substantive support to project meetings, including document presentations and post-meeting actions.
- Support the development of training workshops, seminars, and meetings.
- Draft working and information documents for CORMON meetings.
- Provide technical and scientific support during CORMON meetings.
- Support the organization of the Regional Cooperation Platform on Marine Litter meeting.
- Participate in meetings related to marine litter and plastic pollution and propose follow-up actions.
- Provide input for the preparation of a follow-up project proposal.
- Support the development of updated national IMAP-based monitoring programmes.
- Draft the final report for the implementation of activities.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration, or related areas is required.
- Within the required 5 years of work experience, a minimum of two (2) years of experience in marine environmental management, with a strong focus on marine litter, solid waste management, circular economy, or pollution prevention is required.
- Experience with marine litter data collection methodologies, indicators, and assessment tools is required.
- Working experience in implementing national, regional or multi-country environmental projects in Mediterranean Region is required.
Qualifications
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental management, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field is required.
- A bachelor's degree combined with two additional years of relevant professional experience in the required field, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
