Overview
The consultant will provide technical maritime expertise to support Ukraine in developing an effective system of maritime pollution preparedness and response, underpinned by a functional National Contingency plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and facilitate the Project’s Inception workshop in Ukraine.
- Conduct advanced preparatory work for workshops, tailoring lecture material.
- Conduct and facilitate workshops in Ukraine to enhance national pollution response capacity building.
- Provide feedback to participants and organize meetings with national authorities.
- Support stakeholders in drafting the National Contingency Plan (NCP).
- Develop a framework for the NCP.
- Establish conclusions and recommendations for the NCP.
- Report regularly on developments, progress, and challenges, and prepare the final mission report.
Required Experience
A minimum of 10 years progressive working experience in marine pollution response, oil spill contingency planning and/or marine environment protection is essential.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in environmental sciences, marine sciences, marine engineering, maritime law, or another closely related field is essential.
