Overview
The Intern: Security Risk Management position supports the work of the Security and Safety Service at the United Nations Office at Vienna. The role involves monitoring security information, conducting research, and assisting with various administrative and communication tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and collect daily security-related information from open sources and prepare summaries or highlight relevant developments.
- Conduct research on security-related topics and assist in drafting analytical assessments, reports, and briefing notes.
- Provide support to the Pass and ID Unit, including assisting with badge photo processing and related administrative tasks.
- Assist with drafting, editing, formatting, and reviewing a wide range of documents.
- Support the preparation and coordination of the quarterly newsletter.
- Assist the Office of the Chief with project planning, coordination, and follow-up.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.
Qualifications
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have recently completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
- Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
- Ability to do research in various topics is desirable.
