Overview
This internship supports the Mechanism’s understanding of the evolving security environment and factors impacting the safety and security of personnel and cooperating individuals. The intern will contribute to monitoring, review, and maintenance of Security Threat and Risk Assessment documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct targeted open-source research and analytical assessments related to security developments and emerging risks;
- Monitor and maintain situational awareness regarding political, security, economic, social, and technological developments;
- Research, compile, and summarize relevant information related to the evolving security environment;
- Support the preparation, review, and updating of Security Threat and Risk Assessments (STRA);
- Assist in identifying trends, patterns, and potential security implications through analytical reporting;
- Prepare analytical summaries, briefing materials, and presentations for internal use;
- Contribute to periodic updates and presentations related to STRA findings and recommendations;
- Ensure the confidentiality and secure handling of all information accessed during the internship;
- Complete assigned tasks accurately and within established deadlines;
- Work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a multicultural team environment;
- Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, discretion, and respect toward colleagues and stakeholders.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent).
Pursuing or pursued degree in areas related to Security Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Intelligence Studies, Conflict Studies, International Security, or Criminology. Other closely related disciplines may also be considered.
