Overview
The Junior Data Analyst will contribute to work on agricultural commodity markets and related analysis on agriculture and food policy issues. The role involves preparing data for the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook and contributing to the development of the Outlook data process and related agricultural market model.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the database for the Agricultural Outlook, improving the data process of Aglink-Cosimo and analysing of Aglink-Cosimo results, including the development and updating of relevant software, AI applications and modelling tools.
- Contribute to the preparation of the OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook with specific focus on one commodity chapter and to other publications designed for a policy audience.
- Prepare data output, dashboards, presentations, and briefing material that are clear, concise and relevant for policy makers.
- Ensure continuous awareness of emerging research (especially regarding data processes), exploratory work and evolving policies on agriculture commodity and food markets and trade, emanating from governments, other international organisations, non-governmental organisations, academia and the private sector.
- Participate to the organisation of workshops, webinars and events organised by the OECD on agriculture and food, as requested, including by interacting with prospective speakers.
- Coordinating data collection with member countries and international commodity organisations.
- Collaborate with other Divisions and Directorates and contribute to horizontal and multidisciplinary projects and outputs as needed.
- Build and maintain a network of contacts with government officials, analysts and experts in international organisations, research institutions, universities and NGOs.
- Provide general support to the activities of the Division as required, in particular as requested by the Head of Division.
Required Experience
- Minimum three years' experience in economic analysis on agriculture, food, environment or related topics.
- Proven capacity to organize data collection, econometric analysis and mathematical programming.
- Proven capacity for sound analytical and policy-orientated work; to effectively execute research and to synthesise and communicate quantitative information for audiences at governmental or intergovernmental level.
- Proficiency in analysis of quantitative information and experience with advanced analytical tools (Excel, GAMS, AI approaches and especially Python) is a requirement.
Qualifications
An advanced university degree in econometrics, applied economics or political sciences, with an emphasis on agriculture, food or environmental issues.
