Overview
The Casework Specialist will strengthen complaint intake, case management, research, documentation, and stakeholder communication processes within the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive individual communications and complaints in written or electronic form.
- Receive phone calls from individuals intending to submit a communication to the UN.
- Meet individuals to provide clarifications on submission procedures or other relevant information.
- Review submissions against international human rights standards and assist in categorization.
- Draft standard responses for cases without potential human rights violations.
- Request additional information and provide information on the UN Human Rights System for potential human rights violations.
- Advise on or support referral to other UN Agencies or state bodies when cases fall within their mandate.
- Support the clearance of existing backlog of communications and complaints.
- Input, register, and track cases in the case management database.
- Maintain and update the list of organizations for referral.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.
- Analyze trends and recurring issues from cases and assist in compiling statistics.
- Apply protection-sensitive and survivor-centred approaches.
- Handle sensitive information securely and confidentially.
- Report safeguarding or retaliation concerns.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five years of professional experience, in particular working on issues related to human rights, is required;
- Previous experience handling sensitive casework, complaints intake, or working with vulnerable individuals is desirable;
- Background in working with the United Nations or other intergovernmental / non-governmental organizations, including familiarity with the UN Human Rights System and OHCHR, is desirable.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Human Rights, Law or related fields.
