Overview
The Heating, Ventilation and A/C Technician (HVAC) will provide daily on-site leadership, technical direction, and coordination for junior technicians and support personnel. The role involves performing complex troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and installation of HVAC/R systems and related equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assigns, prioritizes, and reviews work tasks to ensure proper execution, safety compliance, and adherence to UN standards.
- Responds to calls, schedules BMS for meetings, and visits workspaces to ensure satisfaction of work order requests.
- Performs complex troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and installation of all HVAC/R systems and related equipment.
- Diagnoses electrical, mechanical, and refrigerant-related faults using troubleshooting procedures and diagnostic tools.
- Conducts field training, demonstrations, and technical coaching for junior technicians.
- Communicates technical recommendations, condition reports, and improvement proposals to supervisors.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs HVAC/R equipment including AHUs, FCUs, VRF indoor units, split systems, VAV boxes, unit heaters, exhaust fans, refrigeration appliances, and associated controls.
- Coordinates with other trades, project teams, and contractors.
- Reviews material needs, initiates requisitions, and verifies availability of necessary equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Performs tasks such as creating and closing work orders, requesting pricing for materials, and writing requisition forms.
Required Experience
- A minimum of seven (7) years' experience in HVAC repairs and maintenance or equivalent is required.
- Demonstrated experience working with building management systems (BMS) is required.
- Experience with the installation, repair and maintenance of complex HVAC control systems, including diagnostic and repair of digital systems is required.
- A minimum of five (5) years working in a commercial or industrial setting is desirable.
- Experience supervising staff is desirable.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is desirable.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent Trade School Diploma is required.
- EPA 608 Universal Refrigerant Certification is required.
