Overview
The Programme Management Officer will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes, operations and other activities in an assigned functional area related to UN-Habitat’s strategy for Sub-programme 2.
Key Responsibilities
- Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects.
- Monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation.
- Performs consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client.
- Oversees the quality and coherence of the work of projects.
- Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources.
- Assists in policy development.
- Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools.
- Prepares various written outputs.
- Provides substantive support for consultative and other meetings.
- Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops.
- Participates in or lead field missions.
- Coordinates activities related to displacement and refugee settlement integration, game-based and digital participatory urban design.
- Deploys and creates a range of normative tools.
- Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights.
- Performs other duties as required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management, in landscape architecture, urban planning and design and/or academic teaching and research on the subject, preferably gained in various continents is required.
- Proven experience in human settlements development fields, project design and implementation with the United Nations or other International Agencies is required.
- Experience with UN policies, procedures and practices or similar international organization is desirable.
- Experience in working in large multi cultural environments is desirable.
- Experience in designing and implementing urban environment or urban planning initiatives is desirable.
- A minimum of two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture, Geographical Information Systems, urban planning and design, architecture or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.
