Overview
The Food Standards Officer (Data Management) role supports the effective implementation of Codex meetings and the supply and distribution of information for the Codex Secretariat.
Key Responsibilities
- Collects and analyses relevant technical, social, economic, environmental, institutional and technology related information, data and/or statistics.
- Undertakes analysis, provides technical input for plans and reports and edits/revises technical/scientific documents.
- Updates databases and web pages.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary project/work teams.
- Collaborates in the development of training tools and materials and the organization of workshops/seminars.
- Participates in the organization, conduct and follow-up of meetings, consultations and conferences.
- Updates the Codex databases on pesticide residues, veterinary drug residues, food additives, and other areas.
- Supports the preparation of technical papers and meeting reports and other related documentation.
- Contributes to the adoption of new technologies to support data management and data collection.
- Attends, on behalf of the Codex Secretariat, relevant meetings of FAO, WHO and other bodies or organizations.
- Contributes to the collation of statistical information on Codex work.
- Supports the provision of information and capacity development in response to requests to the Codex Secretariat.
Required Experience
- Three years of relevant experience in supporting the development and application of food standards or food control work at national and/or international level.
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable.
- Scope and depth of experience in supporting food standards development or food control in relation to food safety and quality.
- Extent of knowledge and experience in data management and databases and the associated technology.
- Extend of experience in knowledge sharing systems and continuous systems optimization.
- Experience in an international standard setting environment.
- Extent and relevance of experience in the preparation, editing and revision of technical documents and the writing of clear and concise reports.
Qualifications
• Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in food science, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology or veterinary or public health, science data management and/or analysis or a related field.
