Overview
The Communication Officer role focuses on creating, coordinating, and disseminating digital content to enhance UNICEF South Sudan's visibility and influence, particularly in emergency contexts. The position aims to highlight the situation of women and children, showcase program impact, and support advocacy and fundraising efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement a digital content plan for UNICEF South Sudan platforms.
- Develop a monitoring framework for digital analytics.
- Ensure the content planner is updated weekly.
- Support online reputation management.
- Reinforce inclusive storytelling approaches.
- Identify and develop programme impact stories.
- Ensure timely dissemination of digital content.
- Support multimedia content production.
- Undertake visits to capture content.
- Draft and edit website and social media content.
- Oversee the digital asset management system.
- Manage adaptation of stories for diverse stakeholders.
- Share relevant material with partners.
- Ensure the UNICEF South Sudan website is regularly updated.
- Draft content for custom web pages and microsites.
- Monitor audience reach and engagement.
- Develop and implement local digital campaigns.
- Create and gather content for donor visibility.
- Organize content for donor activities.
- Keep a record of donor posts.
- Advise colleagues on social media.
- Identify opportunities for partner capacity strengthening.
Required Experience
- 3 years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience in communication, journalism, broadcast, and/or digital media is required.
- International and national work experience is required.
- Familiarity with emergency situations and inclusive storytelling methodologies is an asset.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Communications Science, Journalism, Public Relations, International Relations or another relevant social science field.
