Overview

The European Commission is seeking an Administrative Assistant for Directorate-General Environment (DG ENV) in Brussels. The role involves supporting the unit's management and ensuring the timely delivery of tasks.


Key Responsibilities
  • management of documents and correspondence.
  • keeping track of deadlines for the tasks assigned to the Unit to ensure timely delivery.
  • ensuring the proper coordination, communication and timely preparation and validation of briefings, interservice consultations, etc;
  • Provide assistance to the Head of Unit and the deputy Head of Unit in the management of the service by responding to general inquiries and managing the outlook calendar
  • Organise missions (MIPS+) and meetings of the Unit
  • providing support for human resources management.
Required Experience

Experience in a similar position will be considered an asset.

Qualifications
  • a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma, or
  • a level of secondary education attested by a diploma giving access to post-secondary education, and appropriate professional experience of at least three years.
Other Details
Languages Required
• have a thorough knowledge (minimum level C1) of one of the 24 official languages of the EU • AND a satisfactory knowledge (minimum level B2) of a second official language of the EU, to the extent necessary for the performance of the duties. Fluency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Good knowledge of other EU languages, in particular French, would be an asset.
Contract Duration
The duration of the 1st contract will be up to 4 years. The contract might then be extended only once for a maximum of 2 years.

Remuneration
The pay of staff members consists of a basic salary supplemented with specific allowances, including, where applicable, expatriation and family allowances.
