Overview

The Digital Communication Specialist will lead the design and implementation of digital communication strategies to strengthen community engagement, address misinformation, and promote polio vaccination across Pakistan.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and implementation of digital communication strategies.
  • Develop and implement a sustainable digital engagement strategy tailored to Pakistan's evolving epidemiological context.
  • Develop targeted, multilingual digital campaigns for high-risk communities.
  • Coordinate with regional partners, including Afghanistan.
  • Strengthen public trust and enhance the reach and effectiveness of digital engagement.
  • Contribute to Pakistan's polio eradication efforts.

Required Experience
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in digital communication, social media strategy, digital marketing, or a related area is required.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing digital and social media strategies at the national or international level, preferably in a public health context, is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing digital content and social media platforms, including addressing misinformation and fostering community engagement, is required.
Qualifications

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in journalism, public relations, communications, media studies, digital marketing, social sciences, international relations, or a related field is required.

Proficiency in English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset. Prior experience working with a UN agency or another international development organization is desirable. Relevant experience working at the country level, particularly in development, fragile, or humanitarian contexts is desirable. Experience in misinformation management, including the use of social listening and digital monitoring tools is desirable. Experience working in public health, immunization, vaccination programmes, or polio eradication initiatives is desirable. Experience leading national digital communication or social media strategies, including digital advertising campaigns, is an asset. Experience working in Pakistan and/or supporting cross-border coordination initiatives is an asset.
