Overview
Support the effective implementation and day-to-day coordination of project activities, contributing to the timely delivery of project outputs and ensuring compliance with approved workplans and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day implementation of project activities in accordance with approved workplans, project documents, budgets, and implementation schedules.
- Coordinate with the Project Management Unit (PMU), FAO, and other implementing partners to ensure timely implementation.
- Monitor implementation progress against approved outputs, milestones, and quality standards, identifying and proposing corrective actions for implementation issues.
- Ensure compliance with UNDP policies, procedures, financial regulations, procurement requirements, and donor agreements.
- Support the preparation of annual and quarterly workplans, procurement plans, implementation schedules, and activity plans.
- Contribute to the preparation of Terms of Reference, technical specifications, and procurement documentation.
- Monitor implementation of consultancy assignments and service contracts by reviewing deliverables and providing technical feedback.
- Provide day-to-day technical guidance and coordination to project consultants, contractors, interns, and service providers.
- Monitor implementation of project expenditures against approved workplans and budgets and contribute to financial planning and reporting.
- Support the preparation of financial forecasts, budget revisions, expenditure monitoring, and funding requests.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
- Contribute to preparation for project reviews, audits, monitoring missions, and evaluation exercises.
- Participate in project meetings, technical working groups, steering committee meetings, donor meetings, and coordination forums.
- Support implementation of results-based management approaches.
- Monitor implementation progress against approved workplans, outputs, indicators, and implementation schedules.
- Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Monitor project implementation risks, maintain the project risk log, and promptly escalate emerging risks and issues.
- Contribute to the preparation of periodic project progress reports.
- Support the timely preparation and submission of technical, operational, and donor reports.
- Compile, analyze, and maintain project implementation data.
- Support monitoring of project expenditures and implementation progress.
- Prepare presentations, briefing notes, technical summaries, and background documentation for project meetings and consultations.
- Coordinate and participate in field missions to monitor project implementation, verify progress, collect technical information, and engage with beneficiaries and local stakeholders.
- Support project evaluations, reviews, audits, and monitoring missions.
- Contribute to identifying implementation challenges and recommending practical solutions.
- Maintain effective working relationships with government counterparts, implementing partners, development partners, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and private sector stakeholders.
- Coordinate regularly with the Project Management Unit (PMU), FAO, and other implementing partners.
- Support coordination among project partners to ensure effective communication, complementarity of interventions, and alignment with approved project objectives.
- Facilitate the organization of coordination meetings, technical workshops, consultations, steering committee meetings, and stakeholder engagement events.
- Support implementation of project communication, outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Contribute to maintaining effective collaboration with donor partners.
- Support coordination with other UNDP programmes and projects.
- Facilitate communication and information exchange among implementing partners and stakeholders.
- Participate in technical meetings, conferences, working groups, and coordination forums.
- Support the identification of opportunities to strengthen partnerships and enhance collaboration.
- Support documentation of project experiences, good practices, innovations, and lessons learned.
- Contribute to the preparation of knowledge products, technical briefs, success stories, communication materials, and case studies.
- Facilitate the collection, organization, and dissemination of project knowledge and technical information.
- Contribute to strengthening institutional knowledge.
- Support the implementation of knowledge-sharing events, workshops, learning sessions, and capacity development activities.
- Contribute to corporate knowledge networks, communities of practice, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Support implementation of project visibility activities.
- Promote continuous learning by identifying opportunities to improve project implementation.
- Contribute to the preparation of concept notes, technical inputs, and background information to support resource mobilization initiatives.
- Participate in technical meetings, consultations, workshops, and missions relevant to the Climate and Energy portfolio.
- Perform other project-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years (with a master’s degree) or four (4) years (with a bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience related to climate change, environment, disaster management, project/programme management, and/or relevant field is required.
- Experience in project management, including coordination, financial management, risk management, and partnership management.
- Experience in policy analysis, development work, project management and implementation (including financial management) in the area of climate change-related issues, including but not limited to agriculture, livelihoods and food security, is an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of the environmental services sector, agriculture sector and/or business incubation/development and experience in co- ordinating or implementing activities for youth, women and entrepreneurship is an asset.
- Experience and knowledge of the country’s institutional framework and policies of climate change is an asset.
- Experience working with government, donors or the UN previously is an asset.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Management, Environmental Management, or any other related field is required. Or A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas mentioned above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience.
