Overview

This internship focuses on the analysis and integration of Earth Observation and geospatial data to support geospatial information and situational awareness activities within the United Nations.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing analytical pipelines for night-time light data for border monitoring and imagery analysis.
  • Support remote sensing analysis using multi-sensor night-time lights and other Earth Observation data.
  • Assist in collecting and integrating open-source information and extracting geospatial indicators.
  • Support data validation, documentation, research on new technologies, and coordination.
  • Coordinate with other units and support the integration of datasets and analytical outputs into UN Maps.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualifications

Applicants must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). The field of study must be closely related to remote sensing and geospatial information systems. Demonstrated knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams is required.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.

Remuneration
