Overview

Support the Cool Coalition in accelerating sustainable, efficient, and climate-friendly cooling and heat resilience efforts in the Asia Pacific region. The role involves developing funding proposals, building partnerships, and supporting country engagement.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Cool Coalition Secretariat with developing three funding proposals on passive cooling and climate-friendly cooling in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Support partnership building efforts related to passive cooling initiatives in the region, including stakeholder and donor engagement, identification of strategic collaborators, and facilitation of cooperation frameworks.
  • Support country engagement and provide guidance and handholding in translating commitments into funded programmes with countries.
  • Activate a knowledge base; provide advisory and demonstration support on sustainable cooling and heat resilience; support fundraising and scale-up, advocacy and outreach.
  • Provide technical inputs and review to project deliverables, technical guidance to partners and support to policy dialogues and financing strategies on sustainable cooling and built environment including passive cooling and sustainable materials.
  • Provide technical inputs to design of country implementation programmes and funding proposals.
  • Support UNEP engagement of governments in the region and evaluating needs and progress on sustainable cooling and unlocking funds for technical assistance.
  • Share best practices between UNEP projects and partner activities in the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Provide technical expertise and organizational support to the development of tools, methodologies, reports and associated trainings.
  • Support partner and government engagements and convenings in the region and provide organizational and technical support for country and regional events including designing and delivering training.
  • Ensure that UNEP’s activities are well-aligned with other internal UNEP programmes and partners.
  • Support fundraising and partner engagement efforts to expand this portfolio and share best practices globally in consultation with various UNEP offices.
Required Experience

A minimum of eight years in a relevant field of work, preferably with a focus on sustainable urban planning, urban heat mapping, GIS, passive cooling and green buildings. Expertise in technology, financing, policy and regulatory frameworks related to urban cooling is an advantage. Experience in engaging multiple stakeholders in project development and partnership building is essential. Experience engaging governments and cities on passive cooling in Asia and the Pacific is an asset.

Qualifications

Post graduate qualifications in sustainable urban planning, architecture, landscape planning, civil engineering, building science, environmental studies, or equivalent expertise. A first level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
